QUEENSLANDERS won’t have to wait long for the heat, with summer-like nights set to arrive in spring.

The jury’s still out on the prospects for a wet season, however, with scientists saying there is a strengthening El Nino pattern that favours drier conditions.

And while the heat is coming it’s not yet time to kick off the doona, with minimum night temperatures expected to be close to the Brisbane average of 9.6C this week. Day maximums will be up to 4C higher than the monthly average of 21.9C, with tomorrow tipped to be a warm 26C.
