Bronzed Bakker

NUDGEE College student Adam Bakker has joined a rare band of dual medallists at a world rowing junior championships, taking a bronze in the single scull final.

Bakker, a year 12 student, won a bronze last year in the under-20s world titles in the double scull in the Olympic test event at Rio de Janeiro.

He was .02 sec off the silver medal in his time of 7min 08.80sec, with Germany’s Henrik Runge second behind Italian winner Giacomo Gentili (7:05.77).

“To race in an A-Final at the World Championships, there are just no words to describe it,” Bakker said.
