When you go away you get a greater appreciation for what the Wallabies jersey means
DEAN MUMM side, can barely believe he has played a role in Australia beating the All Blacks in a Test.
“No is the answer, and if you asked me at the start of the year if I’d be involved in the Wallabies I would have said ‘No’ as well,” he said.
“It’s all happened quite quickly. I’m obviously very pleased to be here.
“I’m certainly not taking anything for granted.
‘‘When you go away you get a greater appreciation for what the Wallabies jersey means.”
Mumm said he copped plenty of grief in England about the Wallabies’ scrum, which dominated the All Blacks but will be targeted by the English in the World Cup.
“Australian (scrums) generally in the UK don’t have as good an opinion, but perfect, how good’s that? It’s a great opportunity,” Mumm said.
“I don’t think we’re 100 per cent there in terms of where we want to be, but we’re improving.
“At the moment we’ve got a belief that our scrum can be good at international level.”
