Justin to miss Dragons’ visit

- CHRIS GARRY AAP

JUSTIN Hodges will miss Friday’s clash with St George Illawarra after he received a grade one high tackle charge for a hit on Brett Morris.

The Brisbane Broncos are highly unlikely to challenge the charge, meaning he will be suspended for one week.

The suspension will, however, clear Hodges of most of his carry-over points, which could help him if he is charged during the NRL finals. The NRL has cracked down on the shoulder charge by laying charges on the New Zealand Warriors’ Ben Matulino and Manly’s Willie Mason.

On a busy day for the match review committee, 10 players attracted charges.

Matulino faces up to five weeks out for his grade two hit on the Dragons’ England star Gareth Widdop.

He will miss three games with an early guilty plea.

Mason has been pinged with a grade one shoulder charge on South Sydney’s Thomas Burgess, however the base penalty of 200 points – together with a 50 per cent loading for similar offence – means he could miss three games.

Rabbitohs forward Glenn Stewart will cop a week off if found guilty for his grade one careless high tackle on Sea Eagles centre Steve Matai.

Cronulla’s Sam Tagataese and Melbourne’s Nelson Asofa-Solomona are in danger of missing their sides’ clash.
