Warm with chance of gull force

IT WILL be 27C in Brisbane today with an unseasonable chance of a storm.

A warm northwest wind will push temperatures 5C above average, with a top of 28C in Ipswich and the city’s western suburbs but about 4C cooler in the bayside suburbs.

Weather bureau forecaster Peter Otto said there would be about a 25 per cent chance of a storm and 40 per cent chance of a shower. “It’s the first springlike event but there’s still not much moisture in the atmosphere,” he said.

“If we get a storm, it will come through quickly and be gusty. People at the Ekka might get a quick shower but it won’t last long.”

Mr Otto said the northerly would push water levels up in the southern part of Moreton Bay by about 30cm, an event that happens once or twice a year.

But personal trainer Olivia Hall (pictured) was enjoying the shallow waters at Tallebudgera on the Gold Coast yesterday, as she escaped the attention of the local seagulls. WEATHER DETAILS P51
