TORCH OF FREEDOM PASSES TO THE CHILDREN OF PEACE Only struggle and sacrifice kept Australia’s flame of freedom burning 50 years ago. Now, as the nation gets ready to celebrate Victory in the Pacific Day on Tuesday, the torch of freedom is being symbolical­ly passed to a new generation of Australian­s who have never known war. Young people such as 16-year-old Erin Hurney have learnt much about World War II through the Australia Remembers campaign.
