Flat tyres stop thief

A WOMAN and her whippet show dogs were in their caravan when the ute that it was attached to was stolen and driven away.

The 28-year-old man who allegedly stole the ute made it 10km before its tyres went flat and police caught up with it near Bourke, northwest NSW.

The 66-year-old woman, who suffered a chipped tooth, and her dogs were released.

However, the 68-year-old Victorian man who owned the ute and caravan was flown to Dubbo Base Hospital after he was allegedly pushed from the ute and on to the road.

Several charges are expected to be laid.
