SEVERE FIGHTING IN GALLIPOLI London, Wednesday – General Sir Ian Hamilton reports that severe fighting took place in Gallipoli yesterday. The positions occupied slightly varied in places, but as the general result the area held in Anzac was nearly trebled, owing chiefly to the gallantry and dash of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. No further progress has been made to the north, but the troops have inflicted heavy losses on the enemy.
