AUSTRALIA has a new world champion in NSW shooter Ben Emms after she won the fullbore rifle-shooting world championships in Port Clinton, Ohio, yesterday.
The championship, by invitation only, is held every four years.
Emms, from Lyndhurst in Central NSW, posted a total score of 669.77 to blitz the field at Camp Perry, with compatriot Matt Pozzebon finishing third.
John Fitzgerald, from the NSW Rifle Association, said Emms’ victory was momentous for Australian professional shooting.
“It’s absolutely fantastic,” he said.
