New seat gets title

-

WESTERN Australia’s extra seat in the Federal Parliament after the next general election has been named after one of the state’s most prominent legal families.

Burt became the state’s 16th seat in the Lower House, under a draft redistribution of boundaries released by the Australian Electoral Commission yesterday.

The new seat will take territory away from the seats of Canning, where a crucial byelection is being held on September 19, as well as the electorates of Hasluck, Swan and Tangney.
