The Southport Seaway is closed until late Sunday afternoon for the XCAT World Series powerboat race. The exclusion zone will prevent recreation­al and most commercial boats from travelling through the Seaway, it will also prevent surfers from paddling across to South Stradbroke Island. It is closed today 10am-12.30pm and 1.303.30pm and Sunday 9.3011.30am and 1.30-3.30pm. A large area of ocean offshore from the Spit and south of the Seaway will also be off limits. The new 6-knot zone will extend west of the Seaway tower and south along the main eastern channel down to Sea World, until the end of the event.
