‘Irish Boy’ gets bail
AUGUST 24: Five men arrested at Coomera AUGUST 15: Solay departs from Vanuatu A FOURTH man charged with fraud over the “Irish Boys” cold call investment scam was granted bail in the Southport Magistrates Court yesterday.
Neil John McKenny, 33, was allegedly part of the Gold Coast crime syndicate that is believed to have defrauded victims of up to $4 million through phony investment schemes and sports betting software. McKenny’s charge was related to allegedly stealing $30,000 from victims.
Magistrate Catherine Pirie granted bail on the condition he pay a $250,000 surety, report to police three times per week and surrender his passport. McKenny is scheduled to appear again on September 15.
