‘Irish Boy’ gets bail


AUGUST 24: Five men arrested at Coomera AUGUST 15: Solay departs from Vanuatu A FOURTH man charged with fraud over the “Irish Boys” cold call investment scam was granted bail in the Southport Magistrate­s Court yesterday.

Neil John McKenny, 33, was allegedly part of the Gold Coast crime syndicate that is believed to have defrauded victims of up to $4 million through phony investment schemes and sports betting software. McKenny’s charge was related to allegedly stealing $30,000 from victims.

Magistrate Catherine Pirie granted bail on the condition he pay a $250,000 surety, report to police three times per week and surrender his passport. McKenny is scheduled to appear again on September 15.
