Glass ceiling still heavy as male execs dominate
THE glass ceiling is still a bleak reality for Australian women, with new national data showing only 17 per cent nt of chief executiveses are female.
The release of the Australian Buureau of Statistics’s’ latest Gender Indiicators report has as sparked calls for reenewed vigilance and d urgent action to promotee women through the ranks of business.
In some industries the situ- ation is woeful, like mining, where only three per cent of CEOs are fe female, and financial ser services where the pr proportion of wo women running co companies is only fra fractionally better at fou four per cent.
