SCHIAVO TAKING HIS FFA CHANCE
AN FFA Cup clash tonight against Perth Glory is the icing on the cake for Lions midfielder Alex Schiavo.
Third-tier club Lions host Perth Glory in tonight’s round-of-16 clash at Perry Park in the biggest match of the 19-year-old’s fledgling career.
“The FFA Cup is the best thing to have happened to Australian football,” Schiavo said.
“It gives part-time footballers the chance to play against the best ... you just never know who might be watching.”
Schiavo, whose “other job” is at an Ascot supermarket, only recently returned to action after an ongoing knee problem.
“I ruptured my MCL (medial collateral ligament) and I came back too quick and hurt it again,” he said.
“I thought that was it for the season but it wasn’t as bad as I first feared.”
