SPACEMEN ORBIT ON TO A RECORD Cape Kennedy, August 26 – Astronauts Gordon Cooper and Charles Conrad flashed across new frontiers of weightless­ness today as the Gemini V mission became the longest in space history. At 11.7pm (Brisbane time) the trail-blazing astronauts passed Soviet cosmonaut Valery Bykovsky’s record for the longest space flight and went on to soar through the “five-day barrier”.
