NEWCASTLE V ARSENAL

ALREADY five points behind leaders Manchester City, Arsenal are desperate for victory against Newcastle.

“We want to do well at Newcastle but it’s always very tight and very committed there because the crowd is always behind their team,” Gunners manager Arsene Wenger told his club’s website.

“It’s important that we prepare well and we give absolutely everything to win this game before the (international) break.”

Arsenal have only two goals in three games, but Wenger seemed confident his side would soon start finding the net regularly.

“The finishing is a little bit cyclical,” he said. “Finishing qualities come and go and you do not always know why.”

Newcastle are still searching for their first Premier League win of the season, but showed grit last weekend in holding Manchester United to a scoreless draw at Old Trafford.

The Magpies backed that result up with a 4-1 midweek League Cup thrashing of lower division Northampton Town.
