Thrones rules world in simulcast record


GAME of Thrones has made the Guinness World Records for the largest TV drama s simulcast – episode two of season five was broadcast in 173 countries simultaneo­usly.

Maisie Williams (pictured), who plays Arya Stark in the show, picked up the award on behalf of the cast and crew.

Singers Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift and Modern Family’s Sofia Vergara have also secured records.

Sheeran’s accolade is the “longest time to reach number one” on the UK singles charts. His single Thinking Out Loud took 19 weeks to top the charts.

His close friend and music star Swift has been awarded the title for most million-selling weeks on the US albums charts.

Vergara is enjoying success as the highest-earning female actor in a current TV series for the third year in a row – $21.7 million in 2014.
