Foreigners kicked out
NEW laws giving the Government mandatory powers to kick foreigners with Australian visas out of the country after they commit a serious crime have led to a 660 per cent increase in people shown the door.
Almost 600 visa holders convicted of violent crimes, drug trafficking and pedophilia have been removed from Australia.
Some 580 people were kicked out of the country last financial year compared to 76 in 2013-14. Last month, 121 people had their visas torn up, 33 of those from Queensland.
