FANS DRINK IN WICKED ANTICS UNDER BIG TOP

- BELINDA SEENEY

COCKTAILS made on holy water and garnished with a communion wafer, a colourcoded audience, a duo of DJs and a shipping container that mists vaporised gin: welcome to the world of Fear & De

light. The adults-only circus has its wicked way with the traditional concept of dinner theatre when it opens in its custom-built big top at South Bank tomorrow night for the Brisbane Festival.

Showgoers can dine before the show at The Devil’s Banquet where they are served gruesomely presented delicacies, such as tomato consomme-filled syringes, wagyu beef carpaccio draped over a cow’s skull and goat’s curd sprinkled with freezedried ants.

Leo Sanchez said his dizzying hoop act was among the most demanding he had performed. “This act is very physical,” he said. “At the end … your legs are contracting and your arms are sore.”
