PLAN TO END ISLAND ‘RULE’ Canberra – The Australian Government aims to acquire the Cocos-Keeling Islands in a bid to end the 148-year-old “reign” of the Clunies-Ross family. He is understood to have told Caucus that the Government had put a value of $3.5 million on the land.
