Rich shell out for the Prancing Horse
THE economy may be slowing but Queensland’s super-rich are loosening their belt with sales of the ultimate luxury brand — Ferrari — tripling over the past year.
With real estate and construction booming in the Sunshine State, about 40 per cent of customers are property developers mostly from the Gold Coast. There also are lawyers, accountants and even a few rich Asian students shelling out between $500,000 and $800,000 for the latest model.
Ferrari Brisbane is now leading the nation in terms of the number of client orders per capita, outselling the bigger capital cities.
Brisbane car dealer Martin Roller opened his opulent Ferrari showroom at Newstead yesterday and was confident sales of the Prancing Horse would continue to climb.
Despite the hefty price tag, the number of sales in Queensland have grown from five in 2014 to 15 so far this year.
Ferrari Australasia president Herbert Appleroth said surprisingly the biggest clients were not the chief executives of the largest companies but entrepreneurs and sole traders.
