Port clears diluted Freo
PORT Adelaide’s Matthew Broadbent has no problem with Fremantle bringing a half-baked side to town this weekend and says the only disappointment he will feel will be watching finals from his couch.
With top spot secure, the Dockers plan on resting up to 11 first-choice players for their final minor-round game against the Power on Saturday.
“They’ve earnt that right,” Broadbent said. “They’re based around team defence and regardless of who they bring it’s going to be a big challenge.”
This time last year Port was preparing for a September campaign that took them all the way to a preliminary final.
“You can’t go away from playing tough footy, that’s Port Adelaide footy ... unfortunately for whatever reason we’ve gone away from that at times this year,” Broadbent said.
