Nation to farewell Cups King
LEGENDARY racehorse trainer Bart Cummings will be farewelled at a state funeral in Sydney today.
There have been many tributes to Cummings in the week since he died aged 87, with racegoers paying homage to the track veteran at Randwick on Saturday.
Many will also be at St Mary’s Cathedral along with people from all walks of life who know him as the “Cups King” for his record 12 wins in the Melbourne Cup.
Cummings’ son Anthony will give the eulogy.
“In an age where everyone is looking for an edge, James, Edward, my family and I had the best one,” he will say.
“We had Dad, he is gone but he is still with us.” RACING P50-51
