Jets turn on the afterburners
AN INCREDIBLE try from Broncos prodigy Carlin Anderson, featuring four soccer kicks, has booted the Ipswich Jets into week two of the Intrust Super Cup finals series.
The Jets overwhelmed the Northern Pride in Ipswich yesterday afternoon, scoring sev- eral remarkable tries to win 54-26 in one of the most entertaining games this year.
They now play Easts Tigers in what looms as a heated minor semi-final this weekend.
The Tigers were dominant against Wynnum Manly yesterday in the other elimination final, winning 32-24 at Kougari Oval.
They shot out to a 20-0 lead in the first half but the Seagulls fought back hard against a tiring Tigers defence but ultimately fell short.
While that game was exciting, it had nothing on the trya-thon in Ipswich.
There were short kick-offs, improbable offloads and backline sweep plays on the goalline in an exhibition of league only the Jets could pull off.
