BERNARD Fanning will use his hometown of Brisbane to put his new music to the test next month.

The former Powderfinger frontman (pictured) will return to the Sunshine State for the Youngcare Benefit Concert and will use the opportunity to perform songs that could appear on his next album.

“For most artists, the latest song you’ve written is the most exciting thing to play ... but it’s not always the greatest thing for an audience,” Fanning told Confidential.

The concert will be held at 6.15pm, on October 10, at Brisbane City Hall.
