BUSINESS BOOMING IN HOME COMFORTS

- JACINDA TUTTY

A PASSION for beautiful things and bespoke designs was all the inspiration Shelley Boyd needed to found her interiors wholesaling business, Boyd Blue.

More than 16 years later, the business has grown from a small showroom on the Gold Coast to a business which serves the nation and is about to dip its toe into New Zealand.

With a focus on providing furniture, lighting, home decor and textiles to interior designers, architects and property developers, Boyd Blue is a one-stop shop for professionals to find beautiful products and explore the latest decorating trends. “We source our products from all over the world,” Ms Boyd said.

“We’re selling a product that people are interested in.

“With a lot of the media around The Block and Renovation Rumble, there’s a lot of buzz around interiors at the moment and it’s certainly more prevalent that people want to make their environment beautiful.”

The company has expanded into bigger showrooms around Australia, moving into a larger space in Sydney and opening in New Zealand this year for the first time. Ms Boyd is among 28 Queenslanders named as finalists in the Telstra Business Women’s Awards, co-sponsored by News Corp Australia, publisher of The Courier-Mail.
