Brew with a view

-

THE beer garden has reached lofty new heights for those looking to drink in the Brisbane Festival vibe from on high.

A custom-built treehouse popped up in South Bank’s Arcadia precinct at the weekend, a collaboration between Brisbane Festival and Little Creatures craft brewery.

The open-air bar is not just a watering hole with bartenders pairing schooners with free lessons in knot-tying, juggling, stilt-walking, woodcarving, bespoke tailoring, making balloon animals and playing ukuleles.

Also proving a drawcard are free, 30-minute “Learn stuff about beer” workshops where beer-lovers can try their hands at a mini-brew.

“Sometimes these things can be a little scientific and dull but these are really hands-on; we get their hands into the malt and their noses into the hops,” Little Creatures marketing manager Ash Cranstoun said. “The response from the first weekend was fantastic.”

Workshops are 5pm and 6pm Fridays and 1pm, 2pm and 3pm on weekends with registration an hour beforehand.

The festival runs to September 26. For information go to the brisbanefestival.com.au website.
