Match-fix probe

TWENTY-six current and former South Korean sportsmen are under investigation for match-fixing and illegal gambling.

The formal investigation by the South Korean police will focus mostly on basketball and judo players.

Police said the probe had been triggered by an alleged game-rigging incident in February involving a 29-yearold basketballer – identified only by his surname Kim.

He is suspected of helping throw a match by intentionally missing a number of baskets at the request of a fellow gambler and 28-year-old judo player, police said.
