No question, Tate’s a true Cowboy

- PAUL MALONE

BRONCOS premiership winner Brent Tate is barracking for the Cowboys – and rates Jason Taumalolo and James Tamou as the keys to victory.

Tate, a member of the 2006 grand final-winning Broncos, is employed by the Cowboys in their commercial department in his first year of retirement and will accompany more than 100 corporate supporters of the club to Brisbane.

“There’s no doubt about my loyalties – being at the Cow- boys I’ll be cheering for them,” Tate said yesterday.

“The two keys for me are Jason and Jimmy. “If they fire and play well, we have the pack to roll over the top of the Broncos.

“For us to do well, we do need Michael Morgan there.

“I’m at the Cowboys so they’re the ones I want to win, especially as I know the boys and the coaching staff so well.”

Tate said coach Paul Green seemed to have raised the in- tensity around the club a little in the first week of the finals.

“Greeny seems relaxed and confident about where the team is at,” he said.

“He has a good mix on when to be intense and when not to be. This time of year requires that.

“Anywhere you go in Townsville this week, you come across people excited about it. I don’t think people have been so excited about our team since I’ve been here.

“It’s a reflection of the team doing well.”
