INJURY CRISIS HITS COWS

LADY LUCK PUTS THE BOOT INTO COWBOYS’ HOPES

- CHRIS GARRY PETER BADEL

NORTH Queensland will revert to their third and fourth-choice kickers against the Broncos on Saturday night, with injuries leaving Johnathan Thurston and Michael Morgan unable to put boot to ball.

The Cowboys’ injury crisis worsened yesterday, with Test prop Matt Scott and fullback Lachlan Coote missing training, and Morgan – named to make his return from an ankle injury – limping through the session.

The Broncos are lying in wait for their northern rivals, vowing there will be no mercy in the local derby.

Thurston has been warned to brace for a battering, with Corey Parker saying Brisbane defenders would put “the heat” on JT at Suncorp Stadium.
