WITH unem­ploy­ment sit­ting at a some­what en­vi­able 5.3 per cent post GFC, par­tic­u­larly as south­ern Euro­pean coun­tries fared much worse, it’s hardly a cause for cel­e­bra­tion given that the Aus­tralian Bureau of Sta­tis­tics cal­cu­lates a per­son to be em­ployed when they have worked for one hour or more for pay, profit, com­mis­sion or pay­ment in-kind, in a job or busi­ness or on a farm.
