NAPLAN results: Underachieving Queensland schools exposed

This is absurd. Improving a school’s performance off a low base will of course take you higher in lists like these. High performing schools will inevitably not show the same improvement. This “analysis” is flawed because it seeks to mislead. Send them back to school to learn how to analyse properly.

Ron

What NAPLAN does show is that you can get just as good an education at a state school as a private school.

Michael

Does anyone care about NAPLAN? Our kids yawned, did the business and ignored the results. Meant nothing and the routine effort matched. Judging a school’s performance on NAPLAN is a joke. And of course it won’t lead to league tables will it? The first thing the media does is create meaningless league tables where the difference between school five and school 50 is probably statistically insignificant.

Tim

They improve because they were hopeless before. Top schools have always yielded very good results, hence less huge jump in improvement.

Peter

NAPLAN is a disaster. Its information is being badly misused.
