Woman banned for life from own­ing pets

A WOMAN has been banned for life from own­ing pets af­ter be­ing con­victed of ne­glect, and her hus­band was banned for 10 years from keep­ing all an­i­mals ex­cept fish.

In Been­leigh Mag­is­trates Court yes­ter­day, Sharon Dam­row, 41, and Randyal Dam­row, 33, pleaded guilty to 15 charges of fail­ing to treat and feed their an­i­mals at their Park Ridge, Lo­gan prop­erty. They were given two years pro­ba­tion.

Last No­vem­ber they were found guilty of mul­ti­ple charges of an­i­mal ne­glect and sen­tenced to 12 months’ pro­ba­tion, and also handed a five-year ban from keep­ing an­i­mals.

Af­ter fur­ther RSPCA vis­its, they were is­sued with new charges. In one in­ci­dent, de­tailed in court doc­u­ments, seven chick­ens were pecked to death by other hens and their bod­ies left to rot in the pen.
