The Courier-Mail - - CONFIDENTIAL -

BEAU Ryan has followed in Lisa Wilkinson’s footsteps and departed Channel 9 bound for Network Ten.

The former rugby league star (pictured above) made the announcement on KIIS FM’s Kyle and Jackie O show yesterday and revealed plans for next year.

“One of their biggest shows next year is called Sunday Night Takeaway with Julia Morris and Dr Chris

Brown,” he said. “It is the biggest show. It’s a variety show. There’ll be pranks, there’s music from big stars … I’ll be a roving reporter and I’ll be hosting a segment called ‘Chris versus Julia’ at the end of the night.”

Ryan has been with Channel 9 for 10 years but has been looking for new opportunities after the NRL Footy Show was axed.

“They’ve been good to me,” he said.

“Is it like when you just fall out of love with someone?” Kyle asked.

“You care about them; you love them,” Ryan said.

The Network 10 variety show is based on the British TV show hosted by Anthony McPartlin and Declan

Donnelly (better known as Ant and Dec) that has been airing in the UK since 2002.

Meanwhile, Channel 9 has also parted ways with popular Brisbane reporter and presenter Darren Curtis (below). The network yesterday confirmed that his contract had expired. It is not being renewed.
