Euthanasia push questioned
I WAS impressed by comments from various doctors (Letters, Feb 23 and 25) on the euthanasia debate.
Most seem to be opposed to the proposal to legalise euthanasia.
Particularly interesting was a letter from one doctor explaining the cure or care option given to seriously ill patients.
The arguments presented raise doubts about the need for legislation at all.
Rushing this legislation seems to be to keep one of many election promises by the state government rather than public demand for it.
The recent mistake in administering a COVID-19 vaccine would not help the anxiety level of many seriously ill patients.
Perhaps there is a need for a more informed public debate before proceeding with this legislation.
