CAMERON’S LOVE TO LEGENDS WHO INSPIRED HIM
BRISBANE livewire Charlie Cameron can barely contain his excitement when talking about the sporting greats who inspire him.
The popular Lions goalsneak reveals his love of athletes from all walks of life in the Footy 2021 magazine out today.
From American football star Julio Jones, who was presented with a signed Lions jumper, to Queensland rugby league stars Greg Inglis and Billy Slater, Cameron said he loved athletes who gave back to their communities.
The 26-year-old said they inspired him to make his own mark in his chosen sport, though he admitted being a latecomer when it came to falling in love with AFL.
Growing up, Cameron followed rugby league and union but since turning to AFL as a teenager he has fully thrown himself into the game.
And he loves nothing more than bringing joy to the fans.
“You want to entertain people and put a smile on their faces,” he said.
He will be hoping the Lions can generate more of that excitement this season after falling short in last year’s preliminary final loss to Geelong.
Read Cameron’s full interview in the Footy 2021 magazine, which also features a panel of Fox Footy experts with their predictions on how your team will fare in 2021 as well as the crystal ball and SuperCoach tips.
