HOW THE HORROR UNFOLDED

1.16PM:

Maddison calls Toowoomba police station from a pay phone, initially speaking with Sen Const Brett Forte before being put through to Sergeant Peter Jenkins.

1.52PM:

Maddison’s car is spotted by a police patrol on Mary St, Toowoomba.

1.54PM:

An officer radios through to police communicat­ions asking them to authorise a pursuit.

1.55PM:

A radio call goes out asking for any nearby units with “stingers” or road spikes to assist.

1.56PM:

Pursuit is authorised.

2PM:

SERT is advised of the pursuit.

2.05PM:

Police throw stingers onto the Warrego Hwy but Maddison swerves around them.

2.09PM:

Officers request assistance from the police helicopter.

2.14pm:

Maddison veers off the highway and drives onto Forestry Rd and then Wallers Rd.

2.18PM:

Maddison stops his car and opens fire on police.

2.38PM:

Forte’s fellow officers smash the window of his car to get him out.

3.29pm:

Brett Forte is declared dead.
