Don’t binge on stress
STRESS alone is not a trigger for overeating, according to new research.
Cambridge University researchers studied the brain activity of a group of women, including some with eating disorders. Whether they could stop what they were doing, or about to do, was tested during stress and relaxation.
They were asked to push a button to stop a moving bar when it reached a specific point on a screen. Sometimes the bar stopped early, and they had to resist the urge to push the button.
Scientists said women with eating disorders could still complete the task despite being affected by stress.
