BMX star fights kid porn rap
BMX star Rhys Kember is fighting allegations of sexual grooming almost a year after he was arrested.
Kember, 33, was appearing in TV ads, worked as a stuntman in the Fast & Furious movies and hoped to compete at the Tokyo Olympics when he was arrested in May 2020.
In the ACT Magistrate’s Court, Kember (inset) pleaded not guilty to all 10 charges. He now lives in Queensland, and will face trial later this year or early 2022.
The charges include two of online sexual grooming of a person under 16, two of online sexual procurement of a person under 16, and six related to child abuse material and child pornography.
The child abuse material and child pornography charges stem from a search of his phone and the courts have previously heard they relate to photos of teenage girls.
The underage grooming and sexual procurement charges relate to an allegation he offered to buy alcohol for a teenage girl in exchange for oral sex.
