Build-up of female role
WOMEN’S desire to work in construction is building, with TAFE Queensland recording a spike in female enrolments.
Training and Skills Development Minister Di Farmer said so far this financial year female enrolments across the board had increased by about 7375, compared with the same period in 2019-20. “Women enrolling in construction is the standout figure, with an increase of more than 200, when compared to the same period last financial year,” she said.
“There have also been big increases in women enrolling in automotive, engineering, hospitality and retail … with an increase of 1164 more women completing their qualifications.”
