Camerata’s new boss
WHEN Adam Tucker left Camerata to join Opera Queensland we wondered who would fill his shoes? Well, exit one charming fellow, enter another.
Michael Sterzinger (pictured) is the new executive director for the much-loved Camerata, Queensland’s acclaimed chamber orchestra. Music lovers will know Sterzinger who has been in artistic planning at Queensland Symphony Orchestra these past seven years.
Sterzinger was behind planning for the recent sellout QSO concerts featuring Birds of Tokyo and he has had extensive experience here and abroad. He also happens to play the tuba with the Brisbane Philharmonic Orchestra.
Camerata chair, Brian Bartley says Sterzinger “has the right combination of experience in the classical music industry with an entrepreneurial approach that is the right fit for Camerata”. And if they ever need a guest tuba player, he may be available.
