Big guns will skip Ascot tilt

- RAY THOMAS

NATURE Strip and Bivouac will not be racing at Royal Ascot but whether either sprinter starts again this season is still unclear.

Trainer Chris Waller (below) is considering extending Nature Strip’s autumn campaign to include next month’s $1 million Doomben 10,000 after the chestnut romped away with the TJ Smith Stakes at Royal Randwick k last Saturday.

But any thoughts of taking the horse to England have been shelved d with another assault on the $15 million The Everest next spring already being planned.

Godolphin had also been hoping to send Bivouac overseas until their sprinter ran only fifth in Nature Strip’s TJ Smith Stakes.

“There will be no Royal Ascot for Bivouac,’’ said Godolphin Australia managing director Vin Cox. “He needed to run well for us to put him on a plane for England.’’

It is unclear if Bivouac will race again with the Godolphin stable still discussing their options for the $5.6 million earner.
