& m rt, ve rt n. na fter a well-earned break following an extensive national and US tours of their Limit Of Love record, Boy & Bear are back playing Sydney today, joining Dope Lemon, The Delta Riggs and more for the Party In The Park festival.

Bassist Dave Symes says festivals are the perfect way to wrap a tour cycle before starting on new material.

“It’s a unique situation when you play festivals and share the environment with a whole lot of other bands; it doesn’t happen on your own (tours),” he says.

“You’re backstage with a whole lot of other bands and getting to meet up with friends and you can wander around and watch other bands.

“We’re getting ready to start writing and getting our heads into gear for the next record. We are starting to noodle some ideas to sketch out new songs and discuss the direction we want it to go in. This year we’ll definitely have more time at home to get into writing.” Party in the Park, Pittwater Park, 1472 Pittwater Rd, Narrabeen; today, 1pm-10.30pm, tickets $89, partyinthepark.com.au
