If there’s one word to mem­o­rise this sea­son, it’s melamine. The al­most un­break­able ma­te­rial is ideal for out­door din­ing and thanks to its in­cred­i­ble dura­bil­ity and BPA free sta­tus, melamine table­ware suits both big and lit­tle kids alike. The dish­washer safe de­sign op­tions are seem­ingly end­less, but this sum­mer nau­ti­cal themes and cool colours are rid­ing the wave of pop­u­lar­ity at places such as Pot­tery Barn.

Alexan­dra Kent­mann from Pot­tery Barn says a ta­ble set­ting should be more than just plates, cups and cut­lery.

“If you’re host­ing a sit-down din­ner, place cards are al­ways a nice per­sonal touch,” she says.
