RAY THOMAS AND MATT JONES LOOK AT TOMORROW’S MEETING
MJ: Gee, I had a ripper weekend up in Scone. But we’re back to Rosehill, my favourite Sydney track, and I’m looking forward to seeing what Roman Son has to offer. I think Etymology is his only danger.
RT: I don’t think there is a danger. Roman Son should just win, surely. He’s my best bet at Rosehill and I’m also very keen on Press Box in the opener and Noire in the final event.
MJ: I’m going with Stunts in the first after he ran behind Graff last start and he beat I Like It Easy, who came out and won last week at Warwick Farm. I think Noire is a potential star but I’m going with Dissolute, who is fit and has the Anatola form. I’m backing Up ‘N’ Rolling but if Hunter Jack wins I won’t be able to get over it.
RT: You know what they say about chasing good money after bad. But the day you drop off Hunter Jack, you know what’s going to happen? I give him a good lightweight chance, mate. I’m going with Special Missile to beat Up ‘N’ Rolling, but only just.
MJ: I bet you’re looking forward to watching Miracle Malcolm Johnston be inducted into the Australian Racing Hall of Fame tonight. It’s long overdue, I think.
RT: Deserved honours for Miracle Mal and Chris Waller, among others. And before you say it, no, I wasn’t around when Poitrel won the 1920 Melbourne Cup.
MJ: Let’s get on to the Group 1s. Which horse will announce itself as an Everest runner by winning the Goodwood?
RT: I’m on Vega Magic from Viddora. If either wins, I think they’ll be picked up for The Everest.
MJ: I think Vega Magic has unfinished business in The Everest after last year’s luckless run and he can win tomorrow and book a spot in the race. The Doomben Cup is the other big Group 1. I’m going with Satono Rasen. Apparently, you’re doing the unthinkable and saying Tom Melbourne can win?
RT: Should I be certified, Matty?
MJ: Almost. But seriously, who do you think will win?
RT: I am serious, go Tom!
