A slice of British life

The Daily Telegraph (Sydney) - - Opinion -

A HUMBLE slice of cheese — with no condiments or salad — has been voted the best sandwich filling by more than half of adults surveyed in the UK.

Second in the survey of 2000 adults was ham and cheese, followed by ham and salad, with a sausage sandwich in fourth spot.

Others to make the top 10 included egg and cress and tuna mayonnaise. The survey also found Britons will eat an average of four sandwiches a week. Seven in 10 say crusts should be left on a sandwich, and three in 10 cut theirs diagonally before serving.
