Will to save skills

The Daily Telegraph (Sydney) - - Letters -

Well said, Jon Black (“Skills being killed off”, 17/5).

Your campaign to tidy up the industrial strife at TAFE has borne fruit and now you have turned your guns on the silly federal system that discriminates against vocational students vis-a-vis university students. This is patently unfair and is a disadvantage that must end.

Western Sydney is proud of both its university students and its TAFE students, as we want a well-trained and highly skilled workforce to take up all the smart jobs that are coming our way as we manage Sydney’s growth problems.

What we don’t want is a two-tier system, where kids at TAFE are treated as second-class citizens compared to their fellow tertiary students. Christopher Brown, Parramatta
