RING OF TRUTH FOR CAGE
HOLLYWOOD star Nicolas Cage has revealed he turned down one of the lead roles in the Lord Of The Rings trilogy because he didn’t want to live in New Zealand for three years.
The Oscar-winning actor, 54, said: “You know, I was going to almost be in the (films) but I didn’t do it.’’
Asked which role he was going to play, Cage said: “It was Aragorn, it was Viggo’s (Mortensen) part. But I didn’t want to go to New Zealand for three years. I was still busy raising my first son so I couldn’t really go. I was in a divorce situation.”
Cage is currently receiving rave reviews for his new movie Mandy, which one critic described as “the performance of a lifetime”.
