A RUN­AWAY driver­less freight train that was de­railed, in­jur­ing two peo­ple, didn’t re­spond to emer­gency stop com­mands, an in­ves­ti­ga­tion has found. The Aus­tralian Trans­port Safety Bureau yes­ter­day re­leased a pre­lim­i­nary re­port into the TasRail 1132-tonne train crash in the Tas­ma­nian city of Devon­port on Septem­ber 21. The train was be­ing loaded with ce­ment at a load­ing yard when it be­came un­re­spon­sive to the re­mote con­trol com­mands of its driver and rolled away, the ATSB found.
