CHEEKY MONKEY NEEDS A MONIKER

The Daily Telegraph (Sydney) - - Federal Politics - LYDIA PEDRANA

EVERYONE is going bananas over this baby boy, who is now desperately seeking a monkey moniker.

Having been kept close to mum since his birth five weeks ago, the tiny spider monkey has only just been identified as a male. Now his keepers at Taronga Western Plains Zoo, Dubbo, need help naming him.

The Saturday Telegraph readers can vote for their favourite from a shortlist of names: Silvano, Mico, Rafael, Rico and Alejandro.

Keeper Sasha Brook said spider monkeys were endangered: “Having a boy is such exciting news because there is a real shortage of males in the region so when he grows up he’ll be really, really valuable for breeding.” To find out what each of the short-listed names mean and to vote for your favourite, go to dailytelegraph.com.au. The name will be announced in next week’s paper and online.
